May 21, 2020 – Return To Work

We are still continuing to call employees back to work on an as needed basis which is contingent on customer demands. You will receive a call from an (865)-259-XXXX number, so please answer those calls. Do not return to work unless you have been contacted by SL from that number.

Upon returning to work you will complete a brief health screening as well as getting your temperature taken each day. We have also provided disposable surgical masks. We encourage following CDC guidelines to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible.

If you do not receive a call from SL then you will continue to re-certify weekly for unemployment benefits until you receive our call.

April 28, 2020 – Return to Work Date

Due to our customer demands we will stagger employee return dates.  What this means is that we will call each employee as they are needed to return. You will receive a call from a 259 number. Please answer phone calls from that number. You may receive a phone call as late as the Friday before you are due to return. Do not return to work unless you have been contacted by SL from that number.

April 20, 2020 – unemployment Payments

We understand some employees have yet to receive their first unemployment payment. SL has responded to every claim and is continuing to promptly respond to claims as we received them from the state. If your last day worked was on or before 3/27 and you haven’t received your first unemployment payment, please send your HR Business Partner an email. In your email, please include your full name and the status of your claim (example – “in progress” or “not applicable”). We will gather this information and send directly to the state by Thursday in hopes of getting answers. We all have been very frustrated with the state unemployment system. We will continue to do our best on behalf of all our employees to get answers and help resolve issues. Thank you for your patience.

April 17, 2020 – Unemployment Certification

Starting Sunday, April 19, claimants will have access to complete their weekly certifications according to the last digit of their social security number. When a claimant tries to certify and clicks the tab, if they are accessing the system on the correct day, it will allow them to proceed. If it is not the claimant’s scheduled day, the system will not let them certify.

If a claimant misses their scheduled day, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are open certification days for any social security number.

April 15, 2020 – Unemployment Payments

If you have questions about unemployment payments that you are due, you can contact the State Customer Success Team at 844-224-5818.  Also, the Customer Success Team can back date your claim if needed.

April 8, 2020 – Time Off Request for April

If you had vacation scheduled in April and you do not want to use it then you will need to send an email to your HRBP to cancel the vacation. If you leave the time off request active you will have to report those earning when doing your weekly certification. If you want to take your vacation then you will NOT need to send an email to your HRBP and those vacations will be processed as normal.

April 3, 2020 – Health Benefits

There will be no loss of any coverage during this time. Once you return double deductions will be made to make up for missed deductions. As a reminder SL Tennessee has paid the Employee Portion of your Medical premium. The double deductions will apply to all other premiums. April 3, 2020 – Unemployment Claims

We understand this has not been easy for our employees, but SL would like to thank all of our employees for their patience during this process.

The State of TN has finally uploaded the employee spreadsheet with employee emails. The State requires an email for everyone on a partial unemployment before the State can file your claim. We provided the State with the email that we had on file.

If you haven’t received an email from the State, you will need to file an individual claim, if you haven’t already done so at (jobs4tn.gov). For employees that did not receive an email from the State, the email we had on file in the HRIS system was either invalid or no email was provided by the employee.

April 1, 2020 – Unemployment Claims

Some things we have recently learned about the Tennessee Unemployment website.

  • It works better with Chrome or Firefox than it does with Internet Explorer.
  • You have to enable Popups on your computer before you try to retrieve your username & password.
  • You could have been registered by the unemployment office 20 years ago and you are in their system with a username and password they assigned, you will need to retrieve username & password.
  • Since the State still has not uploaded the mass layoff spreadsheet you can register as an individual.  Their site says this could cause a delay but that does not mean it will cause a delay.

We have very limited access to information on the unemployment site but will do our best to assist you.  We understand the state is so overwhelmed that now when you call their number you get a recording that the call volume is high and it hangs up.  Email the HR Business Partner for your building with issues or concerns.

March 30, 2020 – Unemployment Claims

The COVID-19 emergency has created an enormous demand on the unemployment insurance system. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is doing everything possible to process claims. Please remember that we have already taken care of the first step (Filing) for all of our employees. You do not have to file an individual claim. Due to the high volume of claims, if you file with any other method you could significantly delay the processing of your claim. You can check the status of your claim on your Dashboard at Jobs4TN.gov. If you are locked out of your Jobs4TN.gov.  account you may submit a ticket to LWDSupport.tn.gov.  If you receive a call from 615-457-8400 or 844-224-5818, please answer. This is the department calling regarding your claim.

In Executive Order No. 15, Governor Bill Lee temporarily suspended Tennessee’s one-week waiting period to receive benefits. Typically, the state pays the first week of benefits after four consecutive weekly certifications. During this temporary suspension, the state will pay the first week of benefits as soon as an unemployment claim is approved. If you have specific questions pertaining to your claim, you can call the help line at 877-813-0950 or contact your HRBP.

If you are on the Jobs4TN website & are trying to Create a Login & it gives you the message that your Social Security number already exists, then all you need to do is click on Forgot Username/Password and follow the directions. If you still have issues please contact the HRBP for you building.

March 24, 2020 – Unemployment Claims- How to File for a Partial Unemployment Claim

Human Resources sent a list of all hourly employees’ information to the State of Tennessee Unemployment Department on Monday, March 23.

Employees with an email address on file should receive an email from the State of TN. If you do not receive an email from the State of TN, then you will need to log on to the website at (https://www.jobs4tn.gov/vosnet/ui/weeklycertifications/weeklycertificationsMassLayoffValidation.aspx) and follow the directions.

March 20, 2020 -Important Announcement Regarding Production Schedules for our SL Tennessee Plant

Due to the Temporary Suspension of Production by General Motors & Ford, SL Tennessee will be halting the majority of production today March 20, 2020 at the end of day shift through March 29, 2020.

This return date will be reevaluated weekly as situations are changing very rapidly. We will only need limited support in certain areas for other customers.

We regret that we have to take these drastic actions and encourage all affected employees to apply for TN Unemployment Benefit at Jobs4tn.gov.

All Employees will need to check this page or our Facebook page (SL Tennessee) for any possible changes to our planned return date of operation March 30, 2020.

The Covid-19 virus is affecting all of our lives at this time, working together we will get thru this pandemic. SL Tennessee plans on using this down time to perform a deep cleaning of our facilities to aid in fighting this virus.
