General Description
- The Corporate Accountant is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing
financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies. This
role plays a key part in the monthly and annual financial closing processes, supports audits, and
provides financial insights to support business decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
- Facilitates payment of venders, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains the general ledger
- Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions
- Calculates and reports sales tax based on paid invoices
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collection.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Work Experience
- 2+ years of experience in corporate or public accounting
- Experience in the lighting industry or a related field is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
