Design Engineer V

Department: Design Team
Location: Metro Detroit
Report To: Engineering Team Lead
Type of Position: Full-time

General Description

The primary responsibility is to create product components while working with the Cross-Functional Team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Component modeling
2. Update and create drawings
3. Create Engineering Change data
4. Upload/download customer’s data into Team Center
5. Expand on engineering terminology and lighting manufacturing/tooling processes
6. Participate in product design reviews
7. Attend customer meetings with Program Engineer or Program Manager
8. Direct less experienced designers
9. Possibly working on-site with customer stylist
10. Implement SL design standards and best practices in designs
11. Domestic and International travel required as needed      

Job Requirements

Work Experience:
1. 10+ years of automotive product design experience
2. 5+ years of exterior lighting design experience

Education:
Associates in Product Design or similar discipline or equivalent experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
2. Fluent in MS Office products
3. Strong UG or CATIA knowledge
4. Automotive knowledge
5. Plastic component experience
6. Product knowledge
7. Completed a course in GD&T a plus
8. Team Center knowledge a plus
