Program Engineer III

General Description

Provide day to day contact to customer during the design, development and launch phases. The Program Engineer will develop and direct the design of the components. They will be the first point of contact with the customer regarding design concerns.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Overall responsibility of product design and release
  2. Give Design Engineers directions on customer’s design
  3. Understand customer requirements and create internal product requirements
  4. Create BOM based on customer requirement
  5. Participate in internal and external product development meetings and lead closure of design concerns
  6. Develop DFMEA with Domestic Cross Functional Team
  7. Participate with the Global Cross Functional Team during the development of PFMEAs, Process Flow Plans, Control Plans
  8. Develop product GD&T with customer and plant input 
  9. Approval of math data release (3D, component drawing, 11×17 drawing) from Design Engineer
  10. Able to review and analyze PV-D/PV-E test results and to provide necessary engineering solutions
  11. Lead design review and product design creation with Global Cross Functional Team
  12. Able to communicate with customer and internal team members effectively
  13. Support sourcing activities (BOM, tech reviews, specification, etc.)
  14. Supplier contact for locally sourced components
  15. Support all phases of builds from early prototypes to PPAP
  16. Understanding of legal requirements
  17. Domestic and International travel required as needed

Job Requirements

Work Experience:
1. 7-9 years as a Program Engineer 
2. Product experience

Education:
BS Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  2. Fluent in MS Office products
  3. FMEA knowledge
  4. Previous product experience
  5. Completed a course in GD&T
  6. Knowledge of product regulations
  7. Basic CATIA/UG knowledge
  8. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tool design
  9. Completed a course in 3DCS and Six Sigma a plus
  10. Strong organizational skills
  11. Able to set priorities
