Material Planner

General Description
  • Manage material supply chain to meet production requirements and operational needs.
  • The material planner places appropriate purchase orders to suppliers for the needed resources.
Responsibilities
  • The primary responsibility is to manage supply line material while meeting production needs.
  • Issue purchase order to supplier based on terms and lead time.
  • Maintain appropriate material inventory level based on safety stock and component level.
  • Reports potential short stock issues and remedy plan in daily production meeting.
  • Ensure materials arrives on-time and properly establishes appropriate inventory levels for the supply chain.
  • Support Service Production by placing appropriate orders for service related material
  • Managing engineering changes and build-out schedules to minimize obsolescence.
  • Expedite part shortages with shortage root cause investigation and resolution. Utilizes expedite shipping methods through manager approval process for addressing potential short stock issues.
  • Provide direct material payable documentation and detail.
Job Requirements

Work Experience

  • Manufacturing and production environment
  • Business administration and logistics
  • Knowledgeable of shipping procedures and requirements

Education

  • BS Business Administration, Logistics, or Operations Management
  • Adequate computer software skills or equivalent training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong autonomous ability to problem solving.
  • Able to work under pressure and independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, internally and externally, at all levels
  • Able to identify and resolve critical paths in the manufacturing processes.
  • Willing to make difficult and tough decisions.
