Molding Engineer 1
General Description
- The Molding Process Engineer supports the Pre-Production team to ensure they develop and produce quality products in an efficient and safe manner utilizing proven scientific methods and processes (mold designs, tooling, and operational process controls).
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support on Multi color and single-color injection molding
- Provide injection molding technical support to the Pre-production area.
- Improve scrap and efficiency in the Pre-production area.
- Control and develop molding machine process parameters.
- Introduce new product injection molding tooling.
- Perform DOE in order to optimize processes with tooling on tool modifications for process improvements.
- Complete new tool design reviews.
- Participate in New product tooling tryouts.
- Selection of all new molding machines and auxiliaries
- Control tool data and process management Interface and manage tool and process sign off in the operating plant
- Provide efficiency improvement ideas
- Comply with the quality and environment standards procedures and instructions (those applicable)
- All those activities generated as a result of changes, requirements and/or improvement in the process of the applicable area.
- Robot programming and EOAT repair.
- Perform any other additional duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
Work Experience
- 1-3 years experience in an injection molding preferred but not required
Education
- Preferred B.S. Degree in Plastics or Mechanical / Industrial Engineering with 3+ years’ experience with Injection Molding of High-Performance Polymers; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing and quality.
- Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation.
- Excellent computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead others, responsibility may include indirect supervision of process technicians.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment while offering motivation and technical support to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and recommend options.
